No. The nylon will build and if struck by sparks can melt the skin. In perfect circumstances nothing will happen, the worst case (as a part of hot metal that fell against the pin, rather than protection, will build the skin causing further damage once hulled out. I have a coating (more nylon), which has had ammorbidetto heat while I worked down further from a previous welding and then hardened as it has cooled to have a "stiff, plastic" section instead of fabric.
